Hawk AI appoints N26 top executive Georg Hauer as COO/CFO

Munich, September 28, 2021 - Hawk AI, a global leading software platform for banks, fintechs and payment companies supporting the fight against financial crime and money laundering, is pleased to announce the appointment of Georg Hauer as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In his role at Hawk AI, Hauer will be responsible for driving the expansion into new markets worldwide, as well as go-to-market strategy, marketing, communications, human resources and finance. His appointment will be effective as of November 1, 2021.

Hauer joins from Berlin-based neobank N26, where he was General Manager of the German-speaking markets and Northern Europe, the bank’s largest region (counting 15 countries in total). He was also Managing Director of N26's Technology and Innovation Centre in Vienna.

"AML compliance and battling financial crime has steadily climbed up the priority list for financial institutions on a global level, and artificial intelligence and cloud technologies will play a major role in meeting these new challenges,” said Tobias Schweiger, CEO and Co-founder of Hawk AI. "Our growth to date is a testament to the confidence the industry has in us to help them address these challenges. As we take the next step to accelerate our global expansion, we're thrilled to bring on Georg, who is one of the most effective fintech executives we have in the industry today."

Said Wolfgang Berner, CTO and Co-founder of Hawk AI: “Georg’s deep experience in financial services technology combined with his proven track record in operational scaling will be in-valuable to further accelerate our growth."

"Financial crime is the biggest unsolved problem in the global banking industry," said Hauer. "Existing AML software solutions are simply incapable of detecting money laundering effectively against the increasing creativity of bad actors. I am excited about Hawk AI’s unique position to solve these problems sustainably using modern technology and look forward to working with Tobias, Wolfgang and the rest of the team to continue building the leading global provider of AML/CFT software."
